It’s no secret I love thrift stores.
Every few weeks my kids follow me around a thrift store or two like bored ducklings. The killer part for them is that, most of the time, I don’t actually buy anything. I just pick up everything, like Seventies gadgets that make me smile, and smell stuff, like old books. And I hold up faded t-shirts with words on them like Airwolf and I say to whomever stranger is nearest things like, “Look! Airwolf! Airwolf! I used to love Airwolf!”
I really did used to love Airwolf. I used to loooove the music that started when the guy would go to Airwolf and start flying it out of its secret place.
Anyhoooo….
Sometimes I buy stuff. Like that wee highchair. Had so much fun doin it up.
Found a big ole soft white sheet there a few weeks back. Front, back, binding. Lazy “applique” in which I straight-stitched twice around some scrappy hearts.
I think it would be cool to write a book of thrift store quilts, but where would one really market that kind of book, besides at thrift stores, where nobody pays full price for new books? Retail fabric shoppes probably wouldn’t want to stock that book, because it would kind of point people away from new fabric.
Always with the asides, the asides. Sorry.
Bye.
